Anglo-Saxon Spurs (for JP)

Got asked to put together some research on Anglo-Saxon spurs, and this is as easy a place as any to collect links for him.

Start on page 3, fourth paragraph here:
Page 4 has some images and couple of views.

Go here, put "spur" into the search bar:

Go download The Archaeology of York 17/15 Finds from Medieval York by Patrick Ottaway and Nicola Rogers from this page:
Page 2957-58, Figure 1522 and 1523. Once you've got it downloaded, control-f find spur and it'll take you to some cool stuff about buckles and such, as well as the discussion of the spurs in the drawings. (The Viking stuff is all in a separate book that isn't downloadable (http://www.jorvikshop.com/product_info.php?pid=721), but I think these are the spurs you want.)

This one's kinda cool, but the provenance is sketchy: http://www.timelineauctions.com/lot/bronze-prick-spur/5186/

Scroll down to 21 February 2013 here: http://www.sharp.org.uk/news.html some nice closeups of some spurs from 12th/13th century Sedgeford, Norfolk (which is coastal sorta half-way between York and London).

Check out the cool pic of in situ spurs here:

I also did amazingly well just putting "spur 12th century" into google images. :) But watch the time and provenance -- too many rows down and you are in the 15th century quick.

OK, that's a start. We can reconvene if you need more/different stuff.
